Henley Symphony Orchestra’s 55th season continues with a flourish in Reading Concert Hall with an exhilarating programme of some of the greatest orchestral music of the 20th century American classical repertoire. Gershwin, Copland, Barber, and Bernstein were all prominent American composers who cultivated a distinct American sound by blending European traditions with American folk and jazz influences.
We are delighted to welcome Hyeyoon Park as soloist in Korngold’s Violin Concerto, a late-Romantic showpiece written in California in 1945. Born in Austria, Korngold became a naturalised American citizen after gaining recognition for his famous Hollywood film scores which deeply influenced this brilliant concerto.
Born in South Korea and now London-based, violinist Hyeyoon Park first gained attention by winning the ARD International Music Competition, Munich at the age of 17. Her performances are marked by her ‘huge palette of tone’ and ‘expressive intonation’ that captivate audiences worldwide. (The Guardian & Coburger Tageblatt).
