The Jonny Mansfield Quartet: Jonny Mansfield vibraphone, Noah Stoneham piano, Will Sach bass, Dave Hamblett drums

Award winning percussionist and composer Jonny Mansfield makes a welcome return to the stage of the Progress Theatre for the opening concert in the 2022/23 season.. He released his debut album 'Elfet' on Edition Records, an extraordinarily ambitious project for an 11-piece ensemble,  after being awarded the prestigious Kenny Wheeler Jazz Prize on his graduation from the Royal Academy of Music in 2018 for excellence in performance and composition.

Drawing on the diverse influences of Norwegian drummer Thomas Strohen and Chilean guitarist Camlla Meza and saxophonist Melisa Aldana, the quartet features Jonny's strikingly original compositions and the improvisations of its individual members to produce music which has been described as 'really beautiful'.

As Marc Edwards remarked after Jonny's Progress appearance in 2018, 'With players, bandleaders and composers of this calibre, the future of new music, powered by such breadth of influences, is indeed bright.'
