BBC Introducing: Deva St. John / Split The Dealer / Who Ate All The Crayons

Alex West and Nicky Booty from BBC Introducing Berkshire highlight upcoming local artists, giving you the chance to see the hottest new music in Berkshire.

Opening the night are new duo Who Ate All The Crayons. Based in Newbury, this alternative rock band started playing when they met in their first year accommodation at Plymouth University. Ever since singer Harry noticed Drummer Lee's natural rhythm whilst playing Guitar Hero, they've been jamming and writing together, eventually settling on a sound incorporating Harry's pained vocals which evokes their influences Rainbow Kitten Surprise, The Howl and the Hum, and Nothing But Thieves.

Next up, Split The Dealer. Walking the wire between 90s rock influence and modern pop, Sam Brett, aka Split, has a fundamentally honest writing style. With over 5 million views across Tik Tok and a sold out headline show at Sub89 in Reading under his belt, Sam is sprinting into 2023, with big plans for the rest of the year.

Finally, Deva St. John, our Artist In Residence for April 2023, takes to the stage. Since her debut in 2018, the Brixton-born, Berkshire-raised artist has had national airplay on the likes of Radio 1 as well as support across the UK and has created a signature sound that appeals to multiple genres, from classic rock to pop-punk. With influence from Paramore, Alanis Morissette, and Beck, Deva's live set is not one to miss out on.
