Reducing Energy Bills by Creating Warmer Homes

Reading Climate Festival

8pm, Tuesday 11th June 2024

We'll discuss options for reducing heat loss - to avoid rising energy bills, to create warmer homes and to qualify for grants and support. Some options for reducing heat loss in homes have a payback of only a few months such as 'draughtbusting', restoring radiator efficiency and loft insulation. (If you live in a house that was built before 1965 for example, it may have little or no insulation in walls or lofts, as insulation was not required prior to this date.)

External wall insulation and double glazing are also very effective at reducing heat loss but have longer payback times. We'll also look at the requirements for rented homes and availability and eligibility of grants and other forms of support. We'll end with a question and answer session to address any additional questions you may have about your situation.

This event is part of Reading Climate Festival 2024 which offers live and online events to inspire and encourage positive action on climate change between 8th and 21st June, ending on Show Your Stripes Day.
