“An entertaining programme for all the family from one of the up and coming brass bands from the West of England.”
Hatherleigh were part of the ‘take part’ draw that took place in September 2023, all bands were given the opportunity to enter and to be part of the concert series.
Hatherleigh Band is one of the oldest organisations in the town and one of the oldest bands in the county of Devon. As early as 1827 there is a record of a band playing as the Duchess of Clarence (later Queen Adelaide, wife of William IV) passed through the town on the way to stay with Lord Clinton at Heanton Satchville after opening the new Laira bridge at Plymouth.
In more recent years Hatherleigh have been crowned West of England Champions in the 3rd Section (2018) and then in the 2nd Section (2020) and now proudly a 1st Section Band, a great rise through the sections from playing in the 4th section in 2017.
The concert promises to be an entertaining programme for every level of banding and the band are very excited to be part of The British Bandsman Series.
