Take in the last short stage of the St Frideswide's Way, part of a modern-day long-distance pilgrimage along the Camino Ingles (English Way) route to Santiago de Compostela, Spain. The afternoon starts at St Mary the Virgin Church in Whitchurch, where a first stamp for your pilgrim passport may be obtained. The walk then ambles beside the Thames taking The Thames Path National Trail through Purley to Reading. It finishes at Our Lady & St Anne's Church in Caversham, where we visit the Shrine to Our Lady of Caversham and obtain a final stamp for this introductory walk to Santiago.
Bring a bottled drink and snack. Please have an early lunch, or brunch, before we meet. Worn-in walking shoes. Toilets at the start and end and Mapledurham Lock.
