Grand Union - Slough Arm Walk

A Joint Railway & Canal Historical Society London Group and BIAG walk along the Grand Union Slough Arm Walk (5.5 miles) on Saturday 16th May 2026 (10:00 – 16:00).

Meet at Reading Station at 10:00 to catch the 10.13 train to Slough (arrives 10.32). From the station we’ll follow the road down to the start of the walk at the Slough Arm Basin. We will follow the towpath East on the Arm of the Grand Union Canal to Cowley Peachey Junction where we will turn South and walk down the main line to West Drayton Station to catch a return train to Reading. On our way we will view the industrial remains of the canal.

Purchase a day return ticket Reading to West Drayton and we will alight at Slough and catch a return from West Drayton.

As there are no places for food on the way I suggest bringing a picnic lunch and we’ll find a place to stop.

Walking boots are advised.
