This is a day visit led by Peter Steer of the Berkshire Industrial Archaeology Group ( BIAG ) to the interesting Wiltshire village of Pewsey on the Kennet and Avon Canal, with a visit to the Pewsey Heritage Centre and a short walk (2.0 miles) to the Wharf before returning to Pewsey Station. Meet at Reading Station on Saturday 18th July to catch the 11:01 train to Pewsey. We’ll then walk down to the Pewsey Heritage Centre to view the exhibits and receive a presentation from the curator Mike Asbury to learn about the local industry, agriculture, transport and the people of Pewsey (entrance fee £2.00). Following this we’ll take short a walk to our lunch spot (The licensed Garden Kitchen which offers a range of light meals). After lunch, we’ll walk back up to Pewsey Wharf to view the K&A Canal and its infrastructure.  We’ll walk back to Pewsey Station to catch the 17:06 to Reading. Along our way we’ll view the industrial remains of the canal, the station, and the village of Pewsey.
