The History of Reading Society are holding their October meeting at the Abbey Baptist Church, Abbey Square, Reading, on Wednesday 21st October at 7.30pm, when Caroline Piller will tell us about 'The Last Horse Dealer in Reading: Oliver Dixon'.
This talk tells the stories behind some well-known Reading horse dealers. Then explains how Oliver Dixon built a flourishing business in Earley, employing an exceptional aptitude with horses and by securing deals with royalty, aristocracy and the military. It lasted until 1940.
There will also be a book sale at this meeting, so don't forget to bring your money!
