The History of Reading Society are continuing their in person meetings at the Abbey Baptist Church, Abbey Square, Reading RG1 3BE, at 7.30pm (doors open 7pm) on Weds 18th October, when Malcolm Summers will be giving a talk entitled 'The Most Famous Reading Man You Have Never Heard Of'.

Sir Thomas Noon Talfourd, commemorated by a road in East Reading, was very well-known in the early 19th century. He was an MP, writer, dramatist, judge and orator. His close circle of friends included Dickens, Wordsworth, Browning and Lamb. The talk will be given by our Treasurer Malcolm, who has written several books on local history.

This meeting is open to members and visitors (visitors £2 each). No need to book, just turn up on the night.
